Tenjin Matsuri is Osaka at its most spectacular. A thousand-year tradition of boats, fire, and fireworks that turns the city's river into a scene from another era. The land procession features 3,000 performers in Heian-era costumes, and then the river erupts in light. This is Japan's festival culture at full volume.
